Mabel Oldham Lemons

Mabel Oldham Lemons, 90, of 591 Henry Oldham Road, Bear Creek died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Lemons was born October 2, 1922 in Chatham County, the daughter of Henry L. and Mattie (Fisher) Oldham. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lonnie L. (Buss) Lemons, a son, Lonnie L. (Pete) Lemons, brothers and sister, J. B. Oldham, Sr., Gladys O. Womble and John Oldham. Mabel was retired owner/operator of Lemon's Grocery and a farmer. She was a graduate of Goldston High School and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Mabel was a very loving and caring person, who loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved knitting, crocheting, doing word search and reading her Bible. Also, she loved cooking, canning and sewing. She was affectionately known by Tric. She is survived by a granddaughter, Sylvia L. Pattishall and husband, Franklin of Sanford, NC, a grandson, Lonnie L. Lemons, Jr and wife, Marilyn Wright of Knoxville, TN; three sisters: Grace O. Dowdy and Frances O. Johnson both of Bear Creek, NC, Inez O. Dowd of Siler City, NC, and one brother: Eugene F. Oldham of Bear Creek, NC; great-grandchildren, Krystle Cole, Stacey Thompson, Tiffany Pattishall, Eleanor Wright and Aidan Elijah Lemons; one step-great-grandson, Dustin Pattishall; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. Other times they will be at the family home. The funeral will be Friday, February 22, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Antioch Christian Church, 246 Antioch Church Rd., Bear Creek with Rev. David Hicks and Rev. Clark Davis officiating.
