Lula Belle Stinson Welch, 88, of Leesburg, Virginia died Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Leesburg, VA.
Lula was a native of Goldston, North Carolina and a longtime resident of the Washington, D. C. area. She came to work for the F. B. I. in the Identification Bureau during WWII, after graduating from Goldston High School at the age of 17. She retired after 14 years of service to focus on her career as a loving wife and mother. Lula is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence L.(Larry) Welch; parents, Cary and Lydia Gaines Stinson; brothers, Glen, Tom and Horace Stinson; sisters, Estelle Marsh, Polly Wicker,Fannie Hamer and Oppie Couch.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sandra Welch Cooke and Brenda Welch Nemec, a son-In-law, Donald Nemec, three grandsons, Christopher McElroy, Michael McElroy and Daniel Nemec and three great-grandsons, Liam McElroy, Zander Nemec and Landon Nemec; brother, Charles Harden Stinson.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Smith & Buckner. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Ave., Siler City with Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will follow in the Goldston Cemetery.
