Lula Margaret Perry White, 89, of Siler City died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 after several years of declining health. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, W. Arthur White, her parents Daner and Emma Lindley Perry, and her daughter Deann White Woody. She is survived by a large and loving family. The children are Thomas (Tom) W. White and Mary Beth of Asheboro, W. Donald (Don) White and Vicky Olive of Carrboro, Ronald G. White and Evelyn of Silk Hope, Audrey W. Pilkington and Larry of Garner, Helen W. McGee and Mike of Raleigh, and Todd Woody of Silk Hope. She is survived by her ten grandchildren: Leah W. Sugg and Jeff of Erect, Amanda W. Julian and Kris of Asheboro, Leslie G. Lynette and Chris of Garner, Steven Pilkington and Angie of Apex, Lee Pilkington and Laura of Benson, Joshua G. White and Stacey of Silk Hope, Raley White of São Paulo, Brazil, Daner White of Wilmington, and Charlie and Zachary McGee of Raleigh. She is survived by her 8 great-grandchildren: Rebekah and Clay Sugg of Erect, Emma Grace Julian of Asheboro, Haley, Hannah, and Hayden Lynette of Garner, and Sarah and Leah Pilkington of Apex. A lifelong resident of Chatham County, Lula Margaret grew up in Silk Hope. She was a dairy farmer and a member of Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church. She was the leader of the Blue Eagles 4-H Club for over 25 years. She loved sewing and producing fruits and vegetables to can and freeze. In her later years, she worked on genealogy projects. Also, she traveled with Arthur on numerous group trips and attended many bluegrass and gospel events. The children will be receiving friends and family at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City from 6:00-8:30pm on Sunday, September 1, 2013. The funeral will be held at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church in Silk Hope on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 11:00am with a burial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church Memorial Association, Cemetery Upkeep Fund, 1982 Epps Clark Road, Siler City, NC 27344 or Community Homecare and Hospice, 108 Village Lake Road, Siler City, NC 27344.
