Lucy Nance McPherson

Lucy Nance McPherson, 83, of Ed Clapp Road, Siler City died Monday, August 18, 2014 at Siler City Center. Mrs. McPherson was born in Guilford County on May 11, 1931 the daughter of John Claude and Addie (Kittrel) Nance. She was employed for over 20 years by Chatham Foods, Inc., Siler City. Lucy was an active member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Adult Sunday School Class and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed baking cakes for church functions. Lucy was preceded in death by son, Gary Wade McPherson; her parents; sister, Margaret Nance Beasley and a brother, Milton Dale Nance, Sr. She is survived by her husband of 64 years: Ronald William "Billy" McPherson, two daughters: Gwendolyn "Gwen" Johnson and husband, Ed, Cheryl Denise Smith and husband, Edward and two sons: Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne McPherson and wife, Pam, John Russell McPherson and wife, Arlene; daughter-in-law, Marilyn McPherson Joyce; two sisters: Edna Shepard, Carolyn Fields; grandchildren, Chris McPherson and wife, Kim, Joy McPherson, Crystal Richardson and husband, Jerimiah, Jonathan Smith, Delaine Johnson, Brandon Smith, Drew and Dana McPherson and Hannah Smith; great-grandchildren, Aulden and Kailyn Richardson; step-grandchild, Kevin Johnson; several nieces and nephews and family friend, Buddy Olsen. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jim Folks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
