Lorene Wilkie Routh

Lorene Wilkie Routh, 94, of Bonlee, NC died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Coventry House of Siler City, Mrs. Routh was born in Chatham County on September 14, 1921, the daughter of Benjamin F. and Martha (Blalock) Wilkie. She was a member of Bonlee Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. Lorene enjoyed doing many hand crafts, traveling, cooking and accounting. She worked as the secretary at Chatham Central High School, and as a bookkeeper at the Gray House, Shoffner's Building Supply Company and Spence Lumber Company. Later in life she enjoyed assisting at the Bonlee Post Office. She is survived by two daughters: Janet R. Johnson and husband, Richard of Winterville, NC, Nancy R. Selken and husband, Robert of Tallahassee, FL, granddaughter, Logan Johnson of Winterville, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Routh was preceded in death by her husband, C. C. Routh, Jr, her parents and nine siblings. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Bonlee Baptist Church, 25 Al Davis Road, Bonlee with Rev. Bob Wachs and Rev. Brandon Dobson officiating.
