Lonnie Lee McLaurin, 73, of West Raleigh Street, Siler City died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. McLaurin was born in Chatham County on November 22, 1943 the son of Van Birch McLaurin and Alice Frances (Hicks) Hudson. Lonnie was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and Sunday School teacher of the adult class. Lonnie was a skilled furniture upholsterer and operated his own shop. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry G. McLaurin.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Kay (Keck) McLaurin; one daughter: Angie M. Petty and husband, Kevin of Siler City; one son: Timmy McLaurin and wife, Traci; two sisters: Louise M. Perrell of Siler City, Ellen M. Stevens of Chapel Hill; one brother: Charles B. McLaurin of Siler City; grandchildren, Marty Petty, Dana Sheffield, Jenny Petty, Josh Deaton, Megan McLaurin, Shannon Petty and Cory Deaton; great-grandchildren, Austin, Anali, Brantlee, and Kinsley.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 PM. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Brookdale Baptist Church, 1133 West Third Street, Siler City with Rev. Rob Roberts and Rev. Womack Keck officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
