Lillian Mae Andrews Stinson, age 92, was called home to the Lord on Monday, August 22, 2016. For the past three years she resided at Brookstone Assisted Living in Clemmons, NC. Mrs. Stinson was born June 6, 1924, in Bear Creek, NC to the late Braxton Luther Andrews and Jessie Lee Wilkie Andrews. She was a member of the first twelfth grade graduating class of Bonlee School in 1942.
Mrs. Stinson was married for 68 years to Charles Harden Stinson who passed in March of this year. A lifelong member of Bear Creek Baptist Church, Mrs, Stinson was a teacher and a leader in Sunday School, and has served as church secretary and historian. She loved gardening and flowers, was an excellent home cook and baker, and left a legacy of extensive genealogical research for both Andrews and Stinson families.
The lights of her life were her son, Dr. Charles Stephen Stinson and wife, Amy, and her grandchildren, Kathryn Margaret, Samuel Andrew and Emma Grace Sloop. Mrs. Stinson is also survived by her sister, Helen Beavers and husband, William and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Bear Creek Baptist Church Saturday, August 27 at 1:00 PM, with funeral service at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Hicks and Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
