LD Bullis, 84, of Siler City died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Laurels Of Chatham, Pittsboro.
Mr. Bullis was born in Lee County on January 2, 1932 the son of Conrad Duncan and Lillian (Maddox) Bullis. He was a Corporal in the US Army Veteran with the 82nd Airborne Division serving in the Korean Conflict. LD was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class, the grounds committee and the Men's Club. He retired from Chatham Motors where he worked as a mechanic and wrecker operator, He was a past scoutmaster of Troop # 920 from 1970-1987. He received the Silver Beaver Award, was a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and he lead nine 50 mile hikes. He enjoyed camping and hiking.
LD was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Mildred Kennedy Bullis; son, Roger Bullis and sister, Luretia B. Loving.
He is survived by two daughters: Jean Bullis of Snow Camp, NC, Elaine B. Wood and husband, Walter of
Woodbridge, VA; two sons: Jimmy Bullis and wife, Leslie of Siler City, NC, Michael Bullis and wife, Wendy of Siler City, NC; one sister: Faye B. Morgan of Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Logan and Sarah Thomas, Nolan Wood; Lexi, Hailey and Nicholas Bullis.
The funeral will be Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jim Folks and Rev. Robert Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service and at other times at the home of the son, Jimmy Bullis, 41 Fawns Rest Road, Siler City, NC.
