Kenneth Maxwell MacDonald II

Kenneth “Kenny” Maxwell MacDonald II, 54, gained his wings on Friday, November 10, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born in Elizabeth City on May 7, 1969 to the late Kenneth MacDonald and Elaine Smith. He was the proud husband of 26 years to Amanda MacDonald.

Kenny worked for Grubb Properties Inc. for over 18 years. He enjoyed being a handyman who was always willing to lend a hand. A collector of many things: classic trucks, knives, flashlights, and tools. In his free time, he loved listening to a wide variety of music, watching sports, and visiting Tennessee. Most of all he enjoyed being a son, husband, and loving father.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda; daughter, Brandi Cole; father, Mike Smith; stepbrothers, Todd Smith (Catherine), Brett Smith (Kristin); brother-in-law, Allen Shirey (Rachel); sister-in-law’s, Amy Seils and Denise Page; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Smith and his sister, Sherra Cole.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 15 at Lowes Grove Baptist Church in Durham with Dr. Jim Baggett. Burial to follow at Hanks Chapel in Pittsboro. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Wednesday at Lowes Grove Baptist Church.
