Kathleen Frances Callihan

Kathleen Frances Callihan, 67, passed away on November 2nd, 2017 at UNC Chapel Hill. Although unexpected, she had thankfully been able to spend time with her three sons just days prior; an answered prayer.

Born on April 21st, 1950, and raised in Youngsville, PA, she also spent more than 25 years in the Pittsboro / Siler City, NC area where she built deep friendships and made a lasting impact on her community. Kathleen made a living out of her calling in life, as an EMT and Nurse. Her genuine concern for others and attention to those in their time of need will be her legacy.

She spent each day enjoying the simple pleasures of life, always quick to smile, laugh and reach out to friends and strangers alike. Truly a friend to all and a stranger to no one. She loved to sew and to bake and most of all, to spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her brothers Tom Taydus, Ted Taydus and his wife Julie, Stan Taydus and his wife Kathy, and sisters Judy Kuzminski and her husband Alan, and Patti Boots. Her three sons, Michael Callihan and his wife Kathleen, Joseph Callihan and his fiancé Krystal, and Andrew and his wife Kate. As well as her 12 grandchildren: Matthew, Jonathon, Mary, Tommy, Megan, Philip, Kinzey Rayne, Reece, Chloe, Alayna Mae, Pace and Beau.

She is preceded in death by her mother Margaret and father Stanley Taydus as well as her beloved daughter Bonnie Jean Hilko.

Friends, family and those whose lives were touched by Kathleen are invited to a memorial at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 11th at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City, NC. The family will visit with guests immediately following.
