Kathleen Fox Smith

Kathleen Fox Smith, 89, formerly of Smith Hudson Road, Siler City, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 4 , 2013 at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living Center in Pittsboro. She was born Kathleen Leah Fox on December 19, 1923 in Alamance County, to Charlie Jasper Fox and Nora Belle Thompson. Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother and worked for years both outside the home, and as a homemaker. She was known for her cooking and baking. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Heiskell Ernest Smith and her sister Mary Fox Patterson. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters Margaret Smith Young (Phil) of Reidsville and Carolyn Smith Handley (Herb) of Siler City; and her sons: Ernest (Linda), Ronald (Margaret), Mike (Carol), Donald (Sheree) all of Siler City, and Randy (Lisa) of Bear Creek. In addition, she is survived by her brother Charlie Franklin Fox of Alamance County, 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344. and at other times at the home of Mike and Carol Smith, 811 Smith Hudson Road, Siler City, NC. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, 303 Hillbrook Blvd., Siler City, and will be officiated by Pastor Bobby Shutt and Dr. Harold Venable. A graveside service will follow at the Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Cambridge Hills Assisted Living and Community Home Care & Hospice for their wonderful care during Momma's declining health. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Todd Granger for his wonderful care over the years. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church.
