Juanita Cooper Phillips, 89, of Bear Creek died Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Tara Plantation, Carthage with her children by her side.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Hyman, South Carolina on October 31, 1926 the daughter of Christopher C. and Annie (Prosser) Cooper. Juanita was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved to cook for her family and friends but her greatest pleasure was fishing.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Phillips; an infant daughter, Georgia Carol; one grandson; her parents; three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by three daughters: Annie Scott and husband, Mike of Pinehurst, NC, Annette Underwood and husband, Gordon Schillenger of Greensboro, NC, Martha Harris and husband, Lynn of West End, NC; one son: Merle Phillips and wife, Patricia of Siler City, NC; one brother: Jimmy Cooper and wife, Betty of Monks Corner, SC; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and so many nieces and nephews, all of who she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 17721 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
