Josephine Coltrane Culberson

Josephine Coltrane Culberson, 81, of Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. Mrs. Culberson was born in Randolph County on March 2, 1932 the daughter of Randolph and Lola (Ferguson) Coltrane. She was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women and served as an alternate delegate to the annual conference. She had worked for Carolina Telephone. Josephine enjoyed playing bingo, all church activities, travel, listening to gospel music and walking. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyle H. Culberson; son, Thomas (Fuzz) Culberson; and her parents; brother, Randolph Coltrane, Jr. She is survived by one daughter: Jane C. Gray and husband, Ike of Siler City, NC; two sisters: Etta Mae Coltrane Brady, Donna Holt Williams both of Liberty, NC; grandson, David Gray and wife, Shannon of Siler City, NC;daughter-in-law, Marci Culberson; step-great-grandchildren, Anthony, Kailah, Patrick; step-great-great-granddaughter, McKenna and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of daughter, Jane and Ike Gray, 3837 Silk Hope-Liberty Road, Siler City. The funeral will be Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jim Folks and Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
