Johnsie Lane Gaines

Johnsie Lane Gaines, 92, formerly of Bear Creek, died Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Liberty Commons Nursing Center, Jacksonville. Mrs. Gaines was born in Moore County on April 15, 1923 the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Elsie Mae (Stutts) Lane. She attended Bear Creek Baptist Church and retired from Chatham County Schools as a cafeteria worker. Johnsie was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Gaines; her parents and brother, James C. "JC" Lane. She is survived by one sister: Eloise L. Todd of West Virginia; nieces, Peggy Holshauser, Vicky Medlin, Susan Roper; nephews, Doug and Jimmy Lane, Ed and Richard Medlin A memorial service will be Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City with Rev. David Hicks officiating. The family will received friends following the service at Smith & Buckner. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
