John Raymond "Johnny Rock" Pettit

John Raymond Pettit, born September 5, 1955 in Kinston, NC was called home to our Lord on May 21, 2016. John was a Master builder and fisherman. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. Accepting all as family and known as “Uncle Johnny Rock”. John was preceded in death by wife, Cheryl Phillips Pettit and son, Phillip Raymond Pettit of Siler City. Also a nephew and a great niece. John is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Pettit Woodell and husband, Ryan, granddaughters, Jaylan and Avalyn Cheryl “Beebop” Woodell, his parents, Raymond and Mae Cameron Pettit, brother, Don Pettit and wife, Phyllis, sisters, Linda Goodman and husband, James, all of Siler City, Doris Holt and husband, Richard of Sanford, eight nieces and five nephews and many great nieces and nephews. He was loved by many and will be rejoicing with our Lord forever. A visitation will be at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Tuesday May 24, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial may be made to Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. On line condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.
