John Larry Burke, 68, of Siler City died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Burke was born in Chatham County on March 26, 1945 the son of John Elwood and Edna (Dowd) Burke. Mr. Burke was a member of Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. He had worked for 36 years at Kayser Roth in both Goldston and Pittsboro. Larry enjoyed taking care of his grandchildren, fishing and hunting. He liked to listen to blue grass music and clogging at the Rand Old Opry in Liberty. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Ann Burke.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Fannie (Lopossay) Burke; sons: Michael Burke and wife, Maria ,Jeff Burke and wife, Jamie both of Siler City, NC; sisters: Mary Catherine Green of Pittsboro, NC, Mamie Lee Hall, Bonnie Allen both of Siler City, NC, Flida Smith, Ellen Dixon both of Silk Hope, NC, Helen King of Alexandria, VA; brothers: Buddy Burke of Siler City, NC, Roger Burke of Pittsboro, NC and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 7, 2014 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will be Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church, 17475 US 64 W, Siler City with Rev. Mark Richardson and Ashley Wilkie officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
