Joan Marie Nance Harris, 71,of Siler City died Saturday, May 18, 2019.
Mrs. Harris was born February 24, 1948 in Randolph County, the daughter of Milton Dale and Delphie Esther Bowman Nance.
She had attended Penland School of Art and Sandhill Community College. She was employed by Chatham County School System as a Teacher's Aid. Mrs. Harris was an active artist, a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Rachel Allred Sunday School Class. Joan was a cake decorator and caterer for more than 20 years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her brother Milton Nance, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Jimmy Harris; daughter Amy Black and husband Steven of Siler City; son Tim Harris and wife Taylor of Bear Creek; sisters Jean Weil and husband John of Lanesville, IN and Jan Nance of Leland, NC; granddaughter Katie Black of Siler City; grandsons, Aaron Black, Bowman and Brooks Harris all of Siler City.
There will be a private memorial at a later date.
