Jimmy Verle Ward, 80, of Ward Road, Staley died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Care View Rest Home, Snow Camp.
Mr. Ward was born in Randolph County December 8, 1931 the son of Verlie and Ethel (Fogleman) Ward. Mr. Ward was the owner/operator of Ward's Sheet Metal and Roofing and an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family on the farm and at Badin Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Verlie Ward; brothers-in-law, H. L. Langley and Curtis Budd. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Ondrea, Linda and all the assistants of Care View Rest Home and Community Home Care and Hospice for their loving care.
He is survived by one sister: Jane Ward Budd of Liberty, NC and one brother: Jerry Ward and wife, Faye of Siler City, NC; niece, Dawn Ward Elkins and husband, Ron; grand niece, Sarah Elizabeth Elkins and grand nephew, Justin Ward Elkins.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 9:45-10:45 AM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of Jerry and Faye Ward, 311 South Third Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clifford Williams and Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will follow in Staley Cemetery with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
