Jewel Elizabeth Harris, 95 of Siler City, formerly of 386 Clyde Underwood Road died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Siler City Center.
Miss Harris was born in Chatham County on December 3, 1917, the daughter of Dewitt and the Letita (Woody) Harris. Jewel was the oldest lifetime member of Plainfield Friends Meeting and was a poultry grower for Gold Kist. She had a love for being outdoors, gardening and yard work. She was an expert seamstress and dress maker, making her family and friends clothes.
Jewel was preceded in death by sisters, Daisy Smith, Maude Kimrey, Ollie Pike and Hilda Staley; brothers, John Wesley, Dewey, Jack and Hughes Harris.
She is survived by one sister: Mary Gertrude Ray of Siler City, NC; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to funeral service at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will follow on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Lee Lane and Larry MacIntrye officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Cemetery, Silk Hope.
