James Edward Wicker

James Edward "Eddie" Wicker, 76, of Goldston, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on December 20, 2021 in Sanford, NC.

Eddie was born in Moore County on November 12, 1945,  the son of George and Ellen Denny Wicker.

Mr. Wicker was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Goldston. Growing up, Eddie worked with his father on their farm. He enjoyed woodworking. Eddie loved getting to spend time at the beach and eating fish. He was always working on his yard, keeping it mowed perfectly. He spent 18 years working for Townsend, 22 years working for Max Way, then retired as sales associate from Walmart. In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Wicker.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda Wilkie Wicker; children, Kenneth Sparks, Andrew Sparks and wife Amanda, Phyllis Godfrey, and Rose Lynn Sparks; grandchildren, Ginger Sparks and husband Gavin, Brandy Shue and husband Chad, Tiffany Godfrey, Myami and Lucas Skertich; step grandchildren, Keegan and Oliver Daurity; great grandchild, Jack Allen Shue; and step great grandchildren, Madison and Annabeth Shue; and sisters, Sarah Margaret Dunning, and Linda Denkins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 23, 2021, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 3825 Bonlee Carbonton Rd., Goldston, NC 27252. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Mike Garner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
