James Carroll Walston

James Carroll Walston of Graham, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Jim was born in Salisbury, Maryland October 14, 1943 to William Howard Walston and Nellie Jones Walston. He was employed by Georgia Pacific Corp. in Roxboro, NC as Human Resources Director and formerly employed by Townsends, Inc. of Siler City, NC. He is survived by his wife: Sheila (Fields) Walston of the home; son, Michael Dean Walston of Parsonsburg, MD; daughter, Kris Ellen Huntington and husband, Kirk of Parsonsburg, MD; step-daughter, Sonja Mayo of Greensboro, NC; step-son, Phillip Mayo, Jr. of Siler City, NC. Survivors also include grandson, Ryan Huntington of Salisbury, MD; granddaughter, Lorynn Huntington of Parsonsburg, MD; and brother, William H. Walston, Jr. and wife, Martha of Ellicott City, MD; nephew, Scott Walston and wife, Christine of Shoreline, WA; niece, Susan Walston Price and husband, Kris of Alexandria, VA. Jim loved to ride his motorcycle and play various musical instruments, guitar being his favorite. He enjoyed going to concerts and taking road trips. Funeral sevices will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Keith Jones and Rev. William Fields officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service and other times at the home, 2269 Sunberry Drive, Graham, NC. Burial will take place immediately following at Rives Chapel Baptist Church, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, Siler City, NC.
