James Shuby Maness, Jr, 84, of Maness Way, Siler City died Monday, September 26, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Maness was born in Chatham County on July 1, 1932 the son of James S. and Minnie (Johnson) Maness. Shuby was a veteran of the US Air Force, a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church and a retired Federal USDA Inspector. He also enjoyed tending his farm.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sally D. Maness; his parents; and brothers, Tom Maness and Clyde "C" Maness.
He is survived by nieces, Doris Cockman of Siler City, Phyllis Maness of Charlotte, Betty Muehlbach of Siler City, Pam Roberts of Siler City, Diana Dark of Siler City, two step-children; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church, 17475 US 64 W, Siler City and at other times at the family home. The funeral will follow Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Mark Richardson and Rev. Derrick Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Bear Creek.
