James Richard "Rick" Fields, 61, of Siler City died Sunday, January 14, 2018.

Rick was born in Siler City on July 1, 1956 the son of Richard "Buck" Fields, Jr. and Hazel (Cox) Fields.   Rick was a 1974 graduate of Jordan Matthews High School and attended Central Carolina Community College for his Associates degree.  Rick was an active member of The First United Methodist Church in Siler City, where he served on numerous committees. Rick was a loving husband and father who worked alongside his wife, Deb, of Debbie's Daycare for the past eight years. He was especially passionate about the love and care for all the children who touched their lives and brightened their home. He also worked in the poultry industry for over 30 years and was a United States Army Veteran, stationed at West Point.  Rick was an avid Nascar fan and one of his favorite races was in Daytona which he attended annually.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years: Debbie (Rachel) Fields; son: Richard Adam Fields of Siler City; sister: Laura F. Freeman and husband, Eric of Rogers, Arkansas; niece, Sara Nix of Austin, TX; extended family, Dennis and Donna Andrews, Allison, Sophia, Parker Moody and Ashley Andrews; Roger, Judy and Jamie White, all of Siler City. brother, Anthony Gregg Fields and wife, Kris of McLeansville; nephews and niece, Grayson, Aubrey, and Mattie Fields.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 12:00-2:00PM at the First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City and other times at the family home. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Carl Belcher and Rev. Clyde Denny officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
