James Melvin Brady

James Melvin Brady, 60, of Clint Fields Road, Bear Creek died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. Melvin was born in Chatham County on February 13, 1953 the son of Lynden and Sue (Gatlin) Brady. Melvin was self employed in home repair, a "jack of all trades", able to do just about anything. He was a giving person, always willing to help family or a friend in need. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and loved being outdoors He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents, Ernest and Viola Brady, FF and Lillie Gatlin. He is survived by his wife: Debbie (Fields) Brady; daughter: Mary Alice Christman and husband, MontE of Sanford, NC; father, Lynden Brady of Bennett, NC; sisters: Janette Farrington and husband, Warren of Lusby, MD, Sylvia Ford and husband, John of Kernersville, NC, Pamella Salisbury of Cameron, NC, Karen Garner and husband, Shane of Robbins, NC and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends Friday, March 8, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, 715 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Marc Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
