James Manley McLaurin, 71, of Silk Hope Road, Siler City went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, February 22, 2016 at Chatham Hospital, Inc.
Mr. McLaurin was born in Alamance County on April 18, 1944 the son of Howard Clinton McLaurin, Sr and Pauline "Polly" (Lemons) McLaurin. Manley attended Joy Baptist Church and was retired after 40 years as the owner/operator of Mac's Septic Tank Service. He had a love of restoring old cars and enjoyed trips to Holden Beach. He had a gift of music, enjoyed country music and playing his guitar with the Backroads Country Band.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Betty (Moore) McLaurin; daughter: Jodie Suits and husband, Kent of Siler City; son: Jamie McLaurin and wife, Cindy of Siler City; one sister: Sheila McDowell and husband, Terry of Siler City; two brothers: Clinton McLaurin, Jr. and wife, Shelby of Siler City, NC, Jeff McLaurin and wife, Tammy of Siler City; grandchildren, Kendall Suits Johnson and husband, Chase, Colby and Calley Suits, Shelby and Porter McLaurin; sister-in-law, Mary Ferguson and husband, David of Siler City; brothers-in-law, Roy Moore and Lackie Moore and wife, Becky. Manley was very much looking forward to the arrival of his great-grandson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the family home.. The funeral will be Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Joy Baptist Church, 61 Bower Store Road, Siler City with Rev. Charlie Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Bear Creek.
