James Laurel Gray, 93, of Siler City died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Coventry House Of Siler City. Mr. Gray was born in Guilford County on April 17, 1921 the son of Jarvis F. and Roberta (Hodgin) Gray. James was a member of Faith Baptist Church, the Chatham County Gideon Camp, Silk Hope Ruritan Club, an Army veteran, and a life member of VFW Post 9525 in Liberty. He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Irene (Gray) Gray of the home; one son: Ronnie Gray and wife, Charlene of Archdale, NC; one daughter: Shirley Freeman and husband, Bill of Siler City, NC; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Faith Baptist Church, 303 Hillbrook Blvd., Siler City with Pastor Bobby Shutt officiating. A small graveside service will be in Westminster Gardens, Greensboro at 3:00 PM. Online condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.
