James Howard Dowd

Mr. James Howard Dowd, 97, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Siler City Center in Siler City, NC.

A Chatham County native, James was born February 18, 1926, one of nine children to the late Alton and Lily Burke Dowd.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Frances P. Dowd; one son, James Alan Dowd; brothers, Charlie, Shelly, Thomas and Graham Dowd; and sisters, Ruth Beal, Nannie, Margaret and Mae Perry.

Surviving Mr. Dowd is his son, David Dowd (Pamela K. Greene) of Siler City.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 23, from 10am - 12pm at Smith Buckner Funeral Home - 230 N. Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344.

Mr. Dowd's graveside funeral service will follow 2:00pm, at Rives Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Rd, Siler City, NC 27344.

The Reverend John Hackney will officiate the service.
