Ida Woodell Moose Smith, 91, of Siler City died Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born in Guilford County on June 27, 1924 the daughter of Roy Johnson and Ida (Woodell) Moose. She had worked as a secretary at Siler City Mills and she and her husband, William Roland Smith, were the former owners/operators of B & I Oil Company. Ida was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Siler City where she was a member of the church choir with over 50 years of service, the hand bell choir, the Philathea Sunday School Class, Joy Group, had worked with the youth group and served with various other committees. She enjoyed playing bridge and leading a flexercise class at the church.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters, Frances Moose Edens, Emily Moose Williams; brother, Roy Johnson Moose, Jr.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Cornelia Buckner and Della Smith; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. The funeral will follow Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City with Rev. Clyde Denny officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
