Howard Thomas Martin

Howard Thomas "Dode" Martin, 81, of Goldston died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Siler City Care & Rehabilitation. Mr. Martin was born in Rockingham County on March 31, 1931 the son of Drewry and Molly (Watkins) Martin. He lived most of his life in Chatham County and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He had worked in construction as a brick mason and was a farmer. Howard enjoyed baseball and had played for the Silk Hope team. He is survived by five sisters: Louise M. Andrews of Siler City, NC, Betty M. Thomas of Greensboro, NC, Margaret M. Brown of Siler City, NC, Margie M. Kivett of Siler City, NC, Peggy M. Pickett of Kemah, TX; a special great-niece, Crissy Moody of Goldston, NC and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 17721 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek with Rev. Darrell Garner officiating.
