Hobert Harrison Hayes, 75, of Bear Creek died Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
Mr. Hayes was born in Chatham County on May 25, 1942 the son of Ralph Thomas Hayes, Sr. and Wilma Mae (Phillips) Hayes. Hobert was a member of Pentecostal Victory Temple where he served as an usher, Deacon, Trustee and worked with the food pantry. He was retired from Brower Furniture, Staley and the owner/ operator of Hayes Furniture. He was a great dad and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hobert enjoyed helping people, visiting with the regular crowd at Bojangles, fishing or just being outdoors, sitting on the front porch. Hobert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wilma Mae Hayes and infant sister; brothers, Henry, Lacy, Ralph, Jr., Jerry Wayne and Joe Hayes.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Shirley (Dorritty) Hayes; two daughters: Debbie H. Crigler and husband, Michael of Siler City, Tabatha H. Edwards and husband, David of Bear Creek; one son: Jeffrey Lynn Hayes of Panama City, FL; sisters, Irene Atkins of Siler City, Barbara Ann Tesh of Robbins and Shirley DeBord of Siler City; brothers: Raeford Hayes of Bear Creek and John Henry Hayes of Robbins; grandchildren, Crystal, Kyle, Travis, Jeremy, Trista, Jacob, Daylon, Brycen and Matthew; great-granddaughter, Kelly Ann; former daughter-in-law, Melissa.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 18, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 at Pentecostal Victory Temple,18074 US 64 W, Siler City with Rev. Darrell Haithcox, Rev. Tony Davis officiating.
