H L Brewer

H. L. Brewer, 74, of Bear Creek died July 31, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. He was a native of Chatham County, attended Bonlee High School and was a member of Oakley Baptist Church and the Pauline Powers Fellowship Sunday School Class. H. L. was a truck driver and retired from Clapp's Trucking of Asheboro. He liked to work with wood, flowers and anything out of doors. When it came to working in the house he would say, "Let's do that later". He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bessie Jessup Brewer, two sons, Michael Brewer and an infant son, Scottie Brewer; one grandson, Joseph Brewer and a brother, Jim Brewer. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Betty Garner Brewer of Bear Creek; daughter-in-law, Teresa Brewer of Melvern, Arkansas; five sisters, Ann Thrift, Joan Webster ( Russell), Merlyn Moody (Larry) all of Siler City, Judy Freeman (James) of Pleasant Garden, Priscilla Thompson (Frankie) of Liberty; one brother: Robert Brewer (Hazel) of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Ruth Brewer of Bear Creek; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friend, Rev. Bobby Marsh of Asheboro and his faithful canine companion, Coco. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. A service of remembrance will be held Monday, August 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Oakley Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
