Grady Harold Cornett, Jr.

Grady H. Cornett, Jr., 92, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Chatham Hospital,Siler City. He was born in Endicott, New York, the eldest son of Grady H. Cornett, Sr. and Myra Cornett. He is predeceased by his parents; his brother, Arley (Claire) Cornett; sister Virginia (George) Wurth and daughter, Faith Cornett. Grady raised his family in Vestal, New York before retiring in Siler City, after working 37 years at IBM. Grady was the devoted husband of 68 years to his wife and true love, Marion; loving father to Karen Cornett, Sheila (Barry) Cohen, Dawn Cornett and Grady M. Cornett (Deanna); cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Grady loved RV camping and was an avid Formula One and Indy Car racing fan. He was a self-taught "jack of all trades" who could fix almost anything, and he enjoyed finding ways to use his talent to help others. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 4:00-5:00 pm at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 3631 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Sunday at 5:00 at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 3631 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City with Rev. Jason Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Endicott, New York. Memorials may be made to Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 3631 Mt.
