Gerald Van Clark, 57, of Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek died Monday. Mr. Clark was born in Chatham County on May 10, 1960 the son of Bobby Lee Clark and Elizabeth Faye (Ray) Clark McLaughlin. Gerald was a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church, the Good Life Sunday School Class and had served on the grounds committee. He was a graduate of Jordan Matthews High School, Central Carolina Community College and was employed as a former teacher of industrial electronics at Montgomery County Community College. Gerald was an avid runner, enjoyed reading, programming light displays, and trips to the beach. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 36 years: Javetta (Smith) Clark; one daughter: Stacy Clark Burch and husband, Don of Granite Falls; one son: Jesse Clark and wife, Charity of Goldston; one brother: Donald L. Clark and wife, Dela of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Haley and Evan and a granddaughter on the way; special uncle, Wade Clark of Pittsboro; step-father, Daffy McLaughlin of Siler City.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of the son, 2837 Goldston-Glendon Road, Goldston, NC. The funeral will be Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Loves Creek Baptist Church, 1745 East 11th Street, Siler City with Rev. Kenny Black officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
