Georgia Bernice Siler

d. July 15, 2021

Mrs. Georgia Bernice Siler, 89, of Siler City passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Siler was born in Chatham County on September 1, 1931, to the late Web and Mary Taylor. Bernice, as she was known by many, received her education in the Chatham County School System. She graduated from Horton High School in 1949 where she participated in the school choir, due to her love of singing. After graduation, Bernice worked in various positions, but she worked many years for AJ Schnierson & Sons and was a dedicated and loyal employee. Although she worked for many years, Bernice had a true love for her family and was an avid baker and cook. She is known for her delicious sweet potato pies. Besides being a wonderful homemaker, she was a talented seamstress for the community by making garments and alterations. Bernice was a faithful member of the First Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years until her health declined. During that time she served as a deaconess, head of the food services department, President of the Fellowship Choir, and singer in the Gospel and Senior Choir. She loved her family and proudly spent her years taking care of them. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Junior Siler, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. She is survived by her daughters, Melinda Walden of Siler City, Deborah Alston and husband Jerry of Siler City, Minister Cheryl Siler-Jones of Siler City, Evangelist Pamela Moffitt of Siler City, Anita Dickson and husband Norman of Greensboro, and Dr. Demetria Siler of South Carolina; son, Barney Siler and wife Robin of Siler City; brother, Bobby A. Taylor and wife Gerlene of Pittsboro; 4 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
