George Russell Penny

George Russell Penny, 54, of Siler City, beloved husband, strong father-figure, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018.

George was preceded in death by his father, George Henry Penny; grandfather, Dave "Pops" Penny; brother, Rodney Perry.

He is survived by his loving devoted wife of 20 years, Tabitha S. Penny; mother, Bessie "Fat Mama" Perry; brothers: Jimmy Penny, Ronald Perry, Charlie E. Penny and George H. Penny, Jr.; sisters: Janet McKnight and husband, Dave and Tolanda Fletcher; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and cousins; best friend, Dave Williams and furry friends, Lucky, Champ and Earl. George was an energetic and enthusiastic landscaper and employed by Technimark. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horse shoes and spending time at the beach and the mountains

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Hamlet Chapel CME, 2855 Hamlet Chapel Church Road, Pittsboro with Rev. Jim Folks and Pastor Venessa Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
