George Robert Brooks

George R. "Bob" Brooks,85 of Siler City went home to be with the Lord June 9, 2013 at his home. Mr. Brooks was born in Randolph County to the late Colon Brooks and Sallie Brooks Caviness. Bob served in the Navy in WWII, was retired from Briles Oil Company in Ramseur and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Siler City, NC. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Smith Brooks of the home, sisters Emogene B. Phillips of Siler City and Frances C. Spivey of Bear Creek , many nieces and nephews and a special canine companion, Dolly. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers James "Bill" Brooks, John Brooks as well as his sisters, Margaret "Tootie" Harris and Ethel Cooper. The visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Tuesday, June 11 2013 in the Fellowship Baptist Church,120 Fellowship Church Road, Siler City with the graveside service at 2:30 PM in the church cemetery, with Rev. Jason Golden and Rev. Bob Griffith officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 120 Fellowship Church Road, Siler City, NC 27344 or to Parks Crossroads Christian Church, 2057 Parks Crossroads Rd., Ramseur, NC 27316.
