George Thomas McPherson

George Thomas McPherson, 87, of McPherson Lane, Siler City died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at his residence. Mr. McPherson was born in Chatham County on March 3, 1927 the son of Luke and Sallie (Fox) McPherson. George attended Pleasant Grove Wesleyan Church, was an Army veteran of WWII and had been employed with Blythe Construction as a mechanic and equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, farming and working on tractors. George was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jones McPherson; his parents; brothers, Howard and Dave McPherson; sisters, Lela Dark and Sue Way. He is survived by sons: Tom McPherson and wife, Sharon of Sanford, NC, Mike McPherson and wife, Carol of Siler City, NC; two grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons and one great-great-grandson. The family will receive friends Friday, February 20, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Wesleyan Church, 3275 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Noah Albarez officiating.
