George Henry Allred, 97, of Siler City died Friday, July 29, 2016 at Coventry House Of Siler City.
Mr. Allred was born in Chatham County on March 15, 1919 the son of Jesse Booker and Eva (Clark) Allred. George was a member of the Bonlee Baptist Church and an Army Veteran. George devoted his life with countless hours of service to others and has been recognized with numerous awards for his participation and service. Among those are, Siler City Masonic Lodge 403 AF & AM past Master, Ivanhoe Commandry # 8 Greensboro York Rite, past Master KYCH Order of Purple Cross, Royal Order of Scotland AMD ( Allied Masonic Degrees) past Sovert Master, Royal Select Masters # 1, St Patrick's Council #1, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Tar Heel Forest # 161, Ameran Shriners of Raleigh, Oasis Shriners of Charlotte, Scottish Rites of Free Masonary , Greensboro, Life Member, American Legion Post # 93, past Commander, 40-8 Voucher #1172 of Liberty and 33rd Degree awarded by Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonary.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Councilman Allred; his parents; brothers, Harold Allred and wife, Rachel, Jesse Clark Allred and Robert H. Allred; sister, Annie Rue Allred Fox.
He is survived by sister: Frances Disharoon of Siler City; brother: Jack Allred and wife, JoAnn of Siler City; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Brandon Dobson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with military and masonic rites.
