George Burton Johnson

George Burton Johnson, 81 went into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Mr. Johnson was born in Chatham County on September 28, 1934, the son of Samuel O. Johnson and Annie Lee (Massey) Johnson. He was a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He proudly served his country in the US Army and enjoyed farming for many years. Mr. Johnson had worked for Klopman Mills, Ramseur, Collins & Aikman, Siler City and retired from Townsends of Siler City. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Verla Bouldin; brothers, Baxter and Vernon Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faydeene Richardson Johnson; daughter, Melynna J. Dowd and husband, Jeffrey of Lexington; sister, Overa J. Johnson of Graham. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM in the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor, Kenny Black officiating. Burial will follow in Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City.
