Frankie Gaines Day, age 74, of Siler City, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 3, 2024. She is now walking with Jesus after bravely fighting the horrific disease of dementia.
A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished nana, Frankie touched the lives of everyone she met. Her warm and welcoming spirit meant she never met a stranger; she embraced everyone with open arms. Known for her infectious smile, she spread joy and positivity wherever she went, always ready to offer a kind word or a compliment.
Frankie was born on February 9, 1950, in Siler City to Troy “Fred” Gaines and Jean Stone Gaines. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jimmy Gaines. Frankie is survived by her husband of 57 years, John L. Day Jr.; her son, Mark L. Day, and his wife, Susan, of High Point; and her daughter, Jennifer Day Jourdan of Siler City. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Garrett Jourdan and his wife, Delaney Jourdan, great-grandson Jaxson, granddaughter Hannah Jourdan, grandson Kyle Jourdan, and granddaughter Lauren Day; and her brother, Randy Gaines.
A member of Brookdale Baptist Church, Frankie will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who carry on her legacy of love, kindness, and community.
In honoring her memory, let us all strive to reflect the light she brought into our lives.
A graveside service to celebrate Frankie’s life will be held on Sunday, August 11, at Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 3 PM. Visitation will follow the service at 44 Oakmont Lane, Siler City. All are welcome to join in remembering a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on our hearts.
