Frances Allred Disharoon

d. March 14, 2018

Frances Allred Disharoon of Siler City passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

Frances was born March 30, 1925, the 5th child of Jesse Booker Allred and wife Eva Clark Allred. She grew up with an adventurous spirit on the old farm where the Siler City Country Club is located today. Frances moved to Ocean City, Maryland where she met and married Robert "Bob" Disharoon. They spend a quiet life on his farm near Berlin, Maryland. Frances loved to go Antiquing. She also loved watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy in the evenings. She and Bob would make bets on the correct answers and, at the end of each show, the loser always put a dollar bill in an old Mason Jar kept near the TV. When the Mason Jar was full, they would take the money and go out to eat. Frances admitted to "stuffing" the Mason Jar a few times when she didn't feel like cooking.

In her later years, Frances returned to Siler City where she joined West End United Methodist Church. In 2010, Frances was diagnosed with Alzheimers and, as her health began to decline, the family hired a wonderful, live-in caregiver, Genie Cross of Ramseur. Frances and Genie quickly formed a close bond and Genie cared for her until the end.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Jesse Clark Allred (wife Geraldine "Jerry"), George Allred (wife Marie), Annie Rue (husband D. G. Fox), Harold Hearthy (wife Rachel), and Robert Hershall "Bobby" (wife Carol). She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Allred (husband Thomas Allred) of Asheboro; granddaughter Candace (husband Pete Wehr) of Wilmington, grandson Jon Allred (wife Sarah) of Asheville, and five great grandchildren: Lee and Bennett Wehr; Issac, Nate and Elizabeth Ann Allred, and her brother Jack Allred (wife JoAnn) of Siler City..

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM in Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made the Alzheimer's Association or West End United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.
