Ferry Mason Barber Jr. 92, of Goldston died Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Mr. Barber was born April 26, 1926 in Goldston, NC the son of Ferry Mason Barber Sr. and Sophronia Bowman Barber.
He was a rural postal mail carrier for 34 years during this time he won the million-mile award. Mr. Barber was owner operator of Barber Furniture and Appliance for 25 years. He was a member of Goldston United Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. An Army veteran and member of the American Legion Post 292 in Goldston. He was a former Assistant Scout Master and former member of the Goldston Lion's Club. Mr. Barber attended UNC and NC State. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a wonderful husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Marion B. Todd and brother-in-law Dr. Charles Todd; grandson: Devin Blade Barber.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Frances Goldston Barber; and sons: Ken M. Barber of Pollocksville, NC, Darrell G. Barber and wife Lisa of Pine Level, NC; Shane House and wife Kameron of Selma, NC; sister: Anne B. Gaines and husband, Max of Washington, NC; brothers: Charles Barber and wife Jackie of Simpsonville, SC and Donald Barber of Carbonton, NC; granddaughters: Candace Barber and husband Zach Graham, and Marissa Barber; great-granddaughters: Scarlette Fayelin Graham and Lila Grace House.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Goldston United Methodist Church and other times at the family home. The funeral will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. David King and Rev. Susan Caftery officiating. Burial will follow in Goldston Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Goldston United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 99, Goldston, NC 27252.
