Esther Logan Howell, 96, of Pittsboro passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at UNC Hospice, Pittsboro.
Mrs. Howell was born in Chavuma, Zambia on January 16, 1925 the daughter of Wallace F. and Ruth Sacher Logan.
Esther was a much loved and contented woman who loved and lived for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Whilst her primary care was in her home for her husband and three children, she served as a missionary alongside her husband in Zambia and South Africa for over 50 years. She loved the Luvale people working as a nurse-midwife, teaching Bible to women and children, and caring for the needs of the others. Her children and grandchildren rise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28
In addition to her parents, Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Howell; twin sister, Frances Iler; sisters, Viola Young and Grace Croudace; and brothers, Paul and David Logan.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Geesey and husband Mitch of Dover, PA and Beth Helmly and husband Jim of Fredericksburg, VA; son, Steve Howell of Seattle, WA; sister, Eleanor Sims of Pittsboro; grandchildren, David and Nathan Helmly, Dawn Gallini, Daniel and Michael Geesey, Rachelle Swartz, Logan and Felicity Howell and 9 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Gerald Baker officiating.
