Ernest Russell Poe

Ernest Russell Poe, 80, of 5061 Old US 421 North, Siler City died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Poe was born in Chatham County on May 22, 1931 the son of James and Sallie (Brooks) Poe. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and worked at Stout Chair in Liberty in assembly. He enjoyed farming, coon hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Shirley (Gunter) Poe, one daughter: Linda Poe Faucette and husband, Bill of Randleman, NC and three sons: Jimmy R. Poe and wife, Susan of Goldston, NC, Virgil L. Poe of the home, C. Dennis Poe and wife, Maria of Bear Creek, NC; grandchildren, Brad, Beverly and Ryan; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie; three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church, 120 Fellowship Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Bob Griffith officiating.
