Emogene Brooks Phillips, 82, of Eden Hills Road, Siler City died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Randolph County on May 4, 1933 the daughter of George Colon and Sallie (Cox) Brooks. She was retired from Boling Chair Co. as a seamstress. Emogene was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she was a member of the ladies Sunday School Class, worked in the nursery and served on various other committees. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and working in her yard but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emogene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James, John and Bob Brooks; sisters, Margaret (Tootie) Harris and Ethel Cooper.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robie Elon Phillips, Jr.; daughter: Connie Phillips Gee and husband, Henry; grandchildren, Brad Gee and wife, Stephanie, Allison Poremba and husband, Todd, Ashley Allred and husband, Michael, Natalie Gee all of Siler City, NC; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Tyler Gee, Caden, Maddox and Bryce Poremba; one sister: Frances Caviness Spivey of Bear Creek, NC.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 19, 2015 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church, 120 Fellowship Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jason Golden, Rev. Dr. Glenn Phillips and Rev. Robert Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
