Mrs. Elma Kelly Smith died Friday, September 6, 2013 at UNC Hospital. She was 94.
Elma was born on August 28, 1919 in Chatham County, the daughter of the late Clinie D. and Etta Cole Kelly. She graduated from Siler City High School with the class of 1936. She retired from Stout Chair Co. in Liberty after serving as Office Manager for 48 years and 8 months. She was a member of First Baptist Church and served in many capacities. She also was an active part of the Dig and Dream Garden Club, Siler City, BPW Club and Chatham Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Don C. Smith; brothers, Cecil, Harland and Leonard; sisters-in-law, Alice, June and Alene; nephews, Pat and Cecil Lee.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Kelly Wilson; nieces, Miriam, Sharon, Cindy, Linda Carol, Marcia, Kelly and Tracy; nephew, Jimmy; great nieces, Shawn, Dare, and Madison; great-nephews, John , Kyle, Trey and Spencer and two great-great nephews, Hunter and Brayden.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 14 at the First Baptist Church in Siler City. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM with the Memorial Service following.
A private burial service will be at Moon's Chapel Church later in the day.
In lieu of flowers, the family will prefer that donations be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Moon's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Fellowship Baptist Church "Project Grow Fund" or a charity of your choice.
