Ella Brooks Stinson of Bear Creek, NC went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday, June 9, 2017. At the age of 93, she died peacefully in the home of her daughter Judy where she resided the past eight years.
Ella was born on August 10, 1923 to the late Merritt and Sally Brooks of Bear Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas H. Stinson. They were married 47 years and had three children; the late Marlin Stinson, wife Carolyn, Jim Stinson, wife Beverly, and daughter Judy S. Scott, husband Marlyn. She had 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Ella was a 1940 graduate of Goldston High School, where she was the Salutatorian of her class. She served faithfully at Bear Creek Baptist Church in many ministries and shared her love of Jesus through music, teaching, leading, and hospitality. She was also a retired seamstress of 50+ years in Chatham County.
She was loved by many and her faithfulness to her church, family, friends, and community will be remembered by all.
Visitation with family and friends will be Sunday June 11, 2017 from 6:30-8:30pm at Smith and Buckner Funeral home in Siler City, NC. Funeral service will be Monday, June 12 at 11am at Bear Creek Baptist Church, Bear Creek, NC. Online condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.
