Elbert Fred Cook, 86, of Siler City died Monday, February 26, 2018.
Mr. Cook was born in Chatham County on May 13, 1931 the son of Jasper Lee and Nora Bell (Hall) Cook. Elbert was a self- employed plumber and a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. Elbert enjoyed hunting and fishing and time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife 66 years: Barbara (Oldham) Cook; two daughters: Sandra Raines and husband, Tony, Pam Fields and husband, Eddie; one son: Jerry Cook and wife, Brenda;one sister: Nora Lee Cook; two brothers: Claude and Inez Cook and Ulys and Kathleen Cook. Grandchildren: Wendy Johnson and husband, Chris, Dana Scott, Justin Fields and wife, Rae, Kyle Fields and wife, Morgan; great-grandchildren: Ashton Rollins, Aidan and Sawyer Johnson, Jase and Max Fields.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Bear Creek Baptist Church, 1278 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Bob Wachs and Rev. Mitchell Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
