Elaine Hancock Perry, 85, of Silk Hope-Gum Springs Road, Siler City died Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Mrs. Perry was born in Chatham County on December 22, 1929 the daughter of Burnace M. Hancock, Sr. and Mollie (Stinson) Hancock. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother for 60 + years. She attended Campbell University and completed her education at Meredith College. She taught at Silk Hope School but her dedication to family led to become a "stay at home" mom and serving as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, C. R. Perry Poultry, Co. Elaine was a member of The Siler City Chapel where she served as organist for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Reid Perry, Sr. and her parents.
She is survived by one son: Clyde Reid "Chip" Perry, Jr. and wife, Diane of Siler City, NC; three brothers: Burnace M. Hancock, Jr and wife, Phyllis of Siler City, NC, Jimmy Hancock and wife, Eva of Siler City, NC, John Hancock of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren Jamie Allred Smith and husband, Joey of Siler City, NC, Casey R. Perry of Charlotte,NC and Clyde R. "Chip" Perry, III, great-grandson, Colton Ryder Perry of Siler City; sister-in-law, Joyce Perry Clark of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law, H. A. Davis of Siler City special friend, Mary Lee Moore of Siler City, NC; six nieces, and four nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 3631 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City, NC. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jason Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Elaine's home, 7745 Silk Hope-Gum Springs Road, Siler City.
