Edgar Alexander Robinson, 90, of 421 N. Chatham Ave., Siler City died Friday, December 2, 2011 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro. Mr. Robinson was born August 29, 1921 the son of Lawrence and Ethel (Pigg) Robinson. Mr. Robinson was born in Rowan County, an Army veteran of WWII and retired from the maintenance department of Hadley Peoples Manufacturing. He attended the Siler City Chapel for over 50 years where he served as an elder and a Sunday School teacher. Edgar was a devout Christian, loving husband and father. He enjoyed camping, weight lifting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William R. A. Lawrence Robinson and Benny Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Evelyn (Scott) Robinson and one son: Thomas Robinson and wife, Jackie of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Sandra Ridge and husband, Dennis of Asheboro, NC; two sisters: Frances R. Howell of Kannapolis, NC, Delores R. Dudley of Denver, NC and one brother: Curtis Robinson of Landis, NC; grandchildren, Angie Winslow and husband, Bruce of Asheboro, NC, Amy McDonald and husband, Todd of Greenville, NC, Eddie Robinson and wife, Misty of Troy, NC; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Siler City Chapel, 166 South Third Ave., Siler City with Rev. Tommy Steele and Rev. Todd McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City with military rites. Memorials may be made to Siler City Chapel, c/o Jimmy Cranford, 697 John Emerson Road, Siler City, NC 27344.
